An outreach health program under Karuna Trust for the student community
of the school at the beginning of the new academic year 2019 was held on the 2nd March by inviting a doctor and nurses from Impa Health Centre (PHC). All the students were screened and medicines were given free of cost by the visiting health team. This was in fact a good exercise for the school to keep track of their overall health & hygiene of the children.
The School level Essay and Painting Competition for the children has been conducted a few times now under the theme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save girl child, save future generation) under ICDS cell Tamenglong. As many as 103 students categorized in senior, junior and sub-junior participated in the colorful painting competition.
The Bible Verse Recitation and Storytelling Competitions as part of the school literary program for junior and senior categories are held at the school auditorium. The Bible verse recitation and storytelling competition exposes the students to come out of their self and strengthen their faith formation in Christian life.
Learning is fun for all who care. Fancy dress and Poem recitation competition of the school is held annually. The competitions are an exercise to help student’s community to act as someone whom they admire in life and put them into practice before they really attain that stage of life. It is also gives an insight into how much they learn staying in the school. Their memory power, their correct pronunciation, assent, clarity are looked into. It is also a way out to help them come out of their shells giving them chance to do something in front of the crowd.
Talent Show is also held annually. The children are given a chance to exhibit their unique talents in various fields like acrobats/gymnastics, cultural dance, folk songs, traditional attire, couple walk, the voice. In this program, the school selects a Mister and Miss ANGELLIAN and crowns them. Looking at their performances in studies, literary, sports, discipline, obedience etc they are crowned Mister and Miss Angellian.
"Our culture, our identity" is what the present day tribal communities claim. It is what makes us proud of our unique culture and tradition from the rest of the country. On this day the students perform various traditional dances, sing folk songs that they learn from their parents/village elders, play indigenous games. They dress up in colorful traditional attires to make the day auspicious and special to their hearts. The various activities performed on this day are based on competitive spirit that wins points for their teams/houses.
On receiving the invitation from Inem the school team of ten girls who were then undergoing training under Tata Trust was sent to represent the school in a volleyball tournament - The 2nd Kaiguiyang Memorial Trophy. After five days of meeting their opponent teams from surrounding villages the school team came out victorious in championing the volleyball trophy. It was a great day for all of us to have won the trophy.
Sports are an integral part of the child development which focuses of the mental and physical well-being of a child. Some of the activities undertaken are house wise tug-of-war, tunnel ball, football, volleyball matches and a host of individual events like running race, obstacle race, marathon, cross country race, marble and sweets games for kids, grease pole, badminton, carom, high jump, long jump, short put and so on which encourages the children to excel their caliber and ability to utmost height and excellence. Meritorious students and the teams are awarded with medals and certificates of excellence.
The first ever Mrs. Ningwangle Pame (school Founding mother) volleyball tournament for the youth (girls) of the region was held 12th November 2021. The program was designed in such a way to uplift and uphold the overall image of women and girls in the region who are often confined to household chores. It focuses on empowering them to achieve greater heights than merely looking after their children and related house works. Such outdoor initiatives will help and encourage them to come out of their cocoons of shyness, expose them to something new in their lives, widen their perspectives of their relationship with others. A total of seven teams from surrounding villages participated in the program held at the school campus. The Old Magulong village youth club was declared the runner up and the school girls’ team won the championship trophy. Cash award was also given to the winners team and to the best player apart from appreciation citations.
After the declaration of the promotional Exams result at the assembly ground the staff and students of the school gather together to celebrate the Advent Christmas Program in a simple and meaningful way. The function is marked by putting up a small Christmas tree in front of the audience with some decorations. Parents who come to pick their children also join in the program, celebrate and everyone departs for winter vacation until the start of the next academic session.
